Job Description

 
This individual will oversee the planning and design of water and wastewater treatment infrastructure projects for Government Entities. Responsibilities will include directing and/or designing projects, independently create layouts, detailed designs, plans, specifications and estimates for pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, tanks and other water and wastewater storage and conveyance systems. Individual will calculate and prepare engineering documents for respective engineering discipline, including details, schedules and cost estimates for projects, performing life cycle cost analyses, performing hydraulic analysis calculations and developing hydraulic profiles, and coordinating with CADD technicians for construction plan production. Construction management experience is desired. This individual will also assist with marketing and client management, and act as a mentor for junior engineers.
 

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead department of 5 engineers for WWTP group
  • Oversee technical work being done under your supervision. Set budgets, schedules, QC and assign staff to projects.
  • Plan and design water/wastewater projects.
  • Independently create layouts, detailed designs, plans, specifications and estimates for pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, tanks and other water and wastewater storage and conveyance systems.
  • Engineering/process design, project coordination, determining and writing engineering specifications, planning work, establish appropriate design methods, report preparation and coordination, equipment sizing and selection and working directly with the owner.
  • Calculate and prepare engineering documents for respective engineering discipline, including details, schedules and cost estimates for projects, performing life cycle cost analyses, performing hydraulic analysis calculations and developing hydraulic profiles, and coordinating with CADD technicians for construction plan production.
  • The selection and application of engineering systems and materials in accordance with the latest governing codes applicable to the project type will be required.
  • Manage and deliver projects on time and on budget, while meeting quality requirements.
  • Responsible for control of work-in-progress and ensures accurate client billings on his/her projects.
  • Work directly with Client PM on active projects and pursuing and/or developing new projects.
  • Lead equipment and supplier selection
  • Execute project from inception to construction completion/startup
  • Assist in writing proposals for new projects

 

Education & Qualifications

 

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, P.E., registered in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain), M.S. preferred.
  • Experience with Municipal Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Planning and Design including storage, pumping stations, lift stations, and elevated water tanks.
  • Strong technical background and experience in designing water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems; and water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight deadlines.
  • Software knowledge: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Hydraulic modeling software
