Deep Tunnel Wastewater Interceptor City of Pflugerville Improvements

City of Pflugerville

Engineering, Design, and Construction Services to Improve a Municipal Wastewater System

DCS was contracted by The City of Pflugerville to provide construction administrative services for 3.2 miles of deep tunnel wastewater interceptor, serving the projected population growth along SH 130 and SH 45 corridors. The project required several complex operations, including open-cut excavation to a depth of 45 ft, then tunneling to a depth of 70 feet; construction of a 1,000 Linear Feet (LF) bore and jack under SH 130; construction in existing county and state road rights-of-way; and US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) permit approvals for creek crossings.

DCS coordinated the acquisition of temporary and permanent easements across eleven properties, Travis County, Toll Road Authority, and Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) rights-of-way, USACE permit approvals, and coordination with natural gas, telephone, fiber optic, and electric utilities. DCS also acquired a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), allowing spoil material to be used by private landowners to reclaim floodplain areas along Wilbarger Creek and Gilleland Creek.
