East Pecan Street Roadway Improvement

Design and Engineering Services for a roadway extension in Pflugerville, Texas

In 2013, Pflugerville was chosen in the top 50 of America’s Best Small Towns by Money Magazine, and has ranked consistently high among America’s fastest growing cities over the last decade. With award winning schools and a 17-mile commute to downtown Austin, Pflugerville has quickly become a high-demand suburb, especially for residents moving to Texas from out-of-state. But as demand for the suburb grows, so too does traffic.

To accommodate growing traffic congestion within the area, the City of Pflugerville contracted DCS to prepare a preliminary design and construction estimate for the reconstruction of East Pecan Street, from SH 130 to Weiss Lane. The project consisted of 2,800 ft of roadway with high modulus asphalt concrete, an 18” flex base, an 8” lime stabilization layer, sidewalks and curb, with a construction estimate of $3.7M.
