Facility upgrades for an existing Water Treatment Plant HCID No. 18

Design and Engineering Services for an industrial development in the City of Houston

DCS was contracted to provide design and construction administration services for an existing Water Treatment Plant (WTP), constructing a 1.15 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) pre-stressed concrete Ground Storage Tank (GST), and modifying existing booster pumps. As part of this project, DCS adjusted the grading and site drainage to resolve the client’s flooding concerns and to accommodate the new GST.

Due to the minimal topographic change across the site and the limitation of the existing storm sewer elevations, DCS designed a custom tank overflow channel, regraded the existing drainage swales around the site, and supplemented the existing storm sewer system with additional 24” Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) and a new grate inlet. To minimize water flow across sidewalks on the site, DCS fitted the GST with downspouts which lead directly to an underground storm collection system.
