SH 130 Commerce Hydraulics and Hydrology Study

Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC)

Design and Construction Services for an industrial development in the City of Pflugerville

The SH-130 Commerce Center is a 160-acre, master planned business park consisting of many individual tracts of land. The park’s storm drainage system utilizes a regional detention pond, designed and built prior to updates in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s Atlas 14 precipitation frequency estimates. PCDC contracted DCS to analyze their existing stormwater system using updated Atlas 14 flow models, and to provide recommendations for modifications that would allow the remaining tracts of land to be developed to meet the City’s specification.

DCS analyzed the current storm drainage system (a regional detention pond, ditches, storm sewer, and inlets), and found it be adequate in its current state, requiring no further improvements. Even with an increased stormwater flow in the Atlas 14 models, the improvements that had already been made in surrounding areas would detain and reroute a significant amount of the projected flow in the original design of the SH-130 Commerce Center storm sewer system, making further improvement unnecessary.
